so i realized i started my deal of the week but i havent ever went into how i find my amazing deals! i use a website called http://www.thegrocerygame.com/ (also teri's list) it is awesome. it does cost after the 28 day trial period, but it is SO worth it! here is a breakdown of the cost from the site:
you dont HAVE to join a site like this to get the amazing deals, you can get the adds and match your coupons on your own, it just takes more time, and i am kinda lazy haha! anyway, it actually works out to be an amazing deal! the cost of 1.25 per week for one store or 1.87 for 2! i have 2 stores in mine, Hy-Vee and Walgreens. and it saves me hundreds! (if you do use the grocery game please let me know so i can refer you, you get free weeks for every 3 people you refer and who join!!! so when you join you can refer friends too!) Depending on where you live are your options in stores, you could have a target or kmart in your area. I LOVE walgreens because they will take your coupons WITH their store coupons, so you can double up! it comes out to major savings!
the 'catch'
some people think oh its too good to be true or its cheaper to buy off brand. it isnt. i have consistently saved more doing this and getting name brands at DEEP discounts and not having to buy store brand. the 'catch' is investing and need shopping. here is the explanation from their site:

For example, during your trial you may mostly invest in 2 categories such as paper goods and toiletries. You will buy more than you need of those items because they are BLUE or GREEN. By doing this, you are building your investment in those categories. Then your investment will carry you through to the next paper goods and toiletries sales trend.
so for instance, its winter and everyone is sick... you need kleenex or cold medicine. you go to walgreens and kleenex anti viral (my fave) is 2.25 for a box lets say, and cold meds are 8 bucks. thats 10.25... BUT if you would have purchased those items in the summer or fall, a box of kleenex on sale for .89 cents with a 55 cent coupon would be 39 cents and cold meds were onsale for 5 dollars with a 1.50 off it would be 3.50. so total you spent 3.89! thats a savings of 6.36 and that adds up over a period of time! not to mention walgreens does register rewards which also gives you money toward a future purchase and when you go every week you get MORE money off! i mostly go there for toiletries. they do have some very awesome deals on food, but they arent a grocery store. for that i go to hy-vee
at hyvee its a bit different. they dont put alot of their items on sale with coupons but always go on their major sale days, thursday, friday and saturday, they almost always have an extra sale day on one of those days as well... sometimes you can get cereal for as a little over a dollar a box! name brand! normally 4 dollars a box, on sale 2 for 4.00 with 2.00 dollars of 3 boxes! thats 6.00 dollars for 3 boxes minus 2.00 for your coupon, thats 4.00 dollars for 3 boxes! 1.33 PER BOX! the site also has the hy-vee deals listed on them.
whats nice about the site is, you can click everything you want to buy from the stores and it will tell you how many you have to buy to get the deal, what coupons to get, WHERE to find the coupons whether it be the paper or online (they give you the online sites) and make your list for you! so you go to the store with a list! some things on the list are quantity purchases, so the store may require you buy 2 to get the deal, like buy one get one half off. last week i bought mens deodorant buy one get one half off with a walgreens sale and then had a buy one get one free coupon, so the deodorant was 5.50, plus 2.75 for the second deodorant, then with the bogof (buy one get one free) i got both for 5.25! 2.75 each! major savings!
also the toothbrush i featured in my blog, reg 8.99 on sale for 5.99 and had a bogof coupon, i got both battery powered toothbrushes for 5.99! reg price 8.99 x 2 = 17.98 sale 5.99 x 2= 11.98 - 5.99 bogof= so i got each brush for 2.99!!! i saved 11.99!!!
and it keeps going and going! no to mention at christmas they were doing 5 bucks register rewards back for every 20 you spend, i got 25 dollars in register rewards and used it on christmas gifts, and they do register rewards on TONS of items!
when you first start you wont have all the coupons from previous papers so it takes about a month or so to build up your arsenal! i have tons and tons of coupons, and no i dont use them all but in case something comes up i have them! i havent had to buy anything full price as of yet (except for the occasional snack, special meal or run for milk) almost everything i get is onsale, you can freeze almost anything these days!
we are not an average family so i am sure there will be things you have to buy full price, but doing this will save you MEGA bucks in the long run! at first i spent more than normal, but i was getting stocked up on things, air fresheners(as little as 35 cents), toothpaste (as little as 25 cents for crest), toothbrushes (49 cents for oral b or colgate), paper towels (as low as 5 dollars for 10 rolls), toilet paper (8 dollars for 20 rolls), canned veggies (25cents), ribs (7 dollars for a full slab), roast (2.25 for 2 pounds), and so much more!
it does start out seeming weird buying things you dont maybe need at that time, but it saves big time! and on top of that, for the most part, i dont pay full price for everyday foods either! if anyone has any questions feel free to email me @
